Meet Mac

Mac Driscoll lives in the Old West End with his wife and high school sweetheart, Katie, and their dog, Libby. Mac grew up in the Toledo area, received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Toledo, and a Master of Urban Planning and Development from Cleveland State University. After finishing graduate school, Mac took the Summer of 2018 to work as an organizer for the Ohio Environmental Council to help promote Democratic candidates for statewide offices in Ohio.

Mac and Katie moved back to Toledo in the fall of 2018 as Mac began serving with AmeriCorps with the Downtown Toledo Development Corporation. In his work, he has aided in economic development and planning projects throughout downtown and its surrounding neighborhoods, such as: the expansion of the Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), the renewal and expansion of the Downtown Toledo Improvement District, the Vistula Neighborhood Master Plan, and the Garfield Neighborhood Master Plan. Mac currently serves on the board of The Lucas County Young Democrats and the Toledo Design Collective.

In February 2023, after a vote by his fellow council members, Mac Driscoll was appointed to serve at-large on Toledo City Council. As a council member, Mac serves as Vice-Chair of the Finance, Debt, and Budget Oversight Committee and is a member of the Housing & Community Development Committee; Regional Growth, Development & Small Business Enterprise Committee; Mobility, Sustainability and Beautification Committee; and the Zoning & Planning Committee.

Mac is the son of a butcher and a nursery school teacher. His parents taught him the importance of a hard day’s work and the value of serving one’s community. As an urban planner, Mac understands the critical need for focusing on Toledo’s neighborhoods and the steps we must take to reverse the trend of disinvestment in our center city. As a council member, Mac will work hard to make sure your voice is heard, your neighborhood is valued, and that the City of Toledo is the kind of city we can all be proud of.
